Compulsory PFD Requirements for Arkansas
The U.S Coast Guard requires that all children, 12 years and younger should wear a USCG-approved life jacket. The PFD must fit properly, and be in good wearing condition for the intended wearer.
Exceptions from wearing PFD’s in Arkansas
It is not necessary to wear the life jacket if the boater or child is in an enclosed area of a cruiser or houseboat. It’s also not compulsory when one is within the section surrounded by railings on a cruise, party barge, or houseboat, and the boat is not underway.
