All vessels on Utah waters are expected to have an approved PFD for each person on board the boat. PFDs must be worn at all times.

Vessels of all lengths must follow the specified boating laws on wearing of life jackets.

Compulsory PFD Requirements for Utah

All children of age 12 years and younger should be in a USCG-approved life jacket. The PFD must fit properly and should be in good wearing condition.

Exceptions from wearing PFDs in Utah

If a child is riding in an enclosed cabin of a vessel that is 19ft or longer, they are exempt from wearing a personal flotation device.
